Joe and Zan Tyler

Joe Tyler is President of Followers in Fellowship, a 501c3 organization committed
to advancing Christian education. Joe spent thirty years as an information systems
project manager. Joe and Zan homeschooled their three children through high
school. Joe is Chairman of the Board for the South Carolina Association of
Independent Homeschools (SCAIHS).
Zan Tyler’s homeschool journey began in 1984 when the State Superintendent of Education threatened Zan with jail for educating her own son at home. Undeterred, she spent eight years fighting for landmark homeschool legislation in South Carolina — work that has since influenced homeschool freedom across the nation. Zan founded the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS) in 1990 and served as its president for a decade. She has advocated for homeschooling at the national level, appeared on NBC’s Today Show, and served as National Grassroots Director for ParentalRights.org. In 2015, she received the Chris Klicka Award for her extraordinary dedication to home education worldwide. The governor of South Carolina awarded Zan with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest honor a civilian can receive. She and her husband, Joe, spent twenty-one years homeschooling their three children from kindergarten through high school. Widely recognized as a thought leader in the homeschool community, Zan is an inspirational speaker, author, and host of the Zan Tyler Podcast, delivering authentic encouragement and practical wisdom every Wednesday.
