Don't Home Educate out of fear!

Saw this blog today The Worst Reason to Home School and it was a very good read.

Often, we need a reason to bring our children home to home school.  Sometimes home educating is a response to something that has happened.  For us personally, I hated the unsupervised playground time (by the way, I use the word hate infrequently - when I say it, I mean it....) and I disliked the time our oldest daughter spent away from us.

There are so many reasons why we choose to home school and they will keep us going through the hard home schooling days (and there will be some now and then!  Just so you know!).

But deciding to home educate out of fear isn't a great reason.  I've heard to never make a decision based on fear.  Think about that for a moment.

To me, fear is the opposite of faith.  What is faith?

Just found this definition online:  a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny

Fear as a motivation will wear off.  Perhaps it won't keep us going (day after day - month after month, year after year), unless we have that adrenaline rush - whereas, faith will keep us going.

Faith that God will help accomplish what we need to do - whether we have 2 kids, 4 kids, or even 8 or 9 kids.  I know many moms who just believe that God will help them accomplish what they need to do each day AND then, for Him to fill in the gaps of what is missed.

I go back to the above blog mentioned - The Worst Reason to Home School - AND I absolutely LOVE her last sentence.  Make sure you read it.  Write it down if you need to, AND why not believe that God will give you *and* your children what they need for this educational journey?

I *know* He will.

(PS - AND if you originally decide to home school your children out of fear, why not just think of another reason that will keep you going?  Home Schooling our children is so rewarding - it is worth all our effort, time and love.  Home Schooling IS worth it!)  {jcomments off}
