The Arts at the AHEA Convention
We are excited to share that there will be an opportunity for students and families to share their gifts in music, speech, and art at this year’s Convention. With these additions, we hope to encourage and inspire homeschoolers in these areas and to provide our students with an opportunity to share their talents with others. We look forward to hearing from many of you about your desire to participate!
Performing Arts Evening
We will be hosting a Performing Arts Evening from 7:00 – 9:00 PM in the Parkland Pavilion on Thursday evening, in which you, your child, or your entire family can participate! The categories are:
- Vocal: solos or small ensembles
- Instrumentals (including piano, brass, woodwinds, strings): solos or small ensembles
- Poetry Recitations and Bible Memory selections
- Open Category (upon approval): this could include a dramatic monologue, a short act of some type, etc.
Each solo category will have two age levels: ages 10 and younger, and ages 11 and older. Family groups are greatly encouraged and would be included in the ensemble category. Solo participants should limit their selections to approximately three minutes, while ensembles can be up to five minutes. (If we have more participants than can be accommodated on Thursday night, we will find another time slot in which to feature the performances.) A Selection Committee will choose three to five entries who will be asked to perform their selection prior to the last two sessions in the Main Conference Hall.
Calling all homeschool artists ages 12 and up!
