IMG 4891Patty Marler

Patty Marler and her husband Jeff are passionate about home education and by the grace of God, all four children have always been home educated. Two children have graduated from their home education program with two children still being taught at home. Patty is currently on the board of directors for Parents for Choice in Education, has volunteered for her Home School Supervising Authority for 12 years and has served as Government Liaison for AHEA since May 2011. The challenges associated with the proposed Education Act made her thankful for God’s guidance and strength. The fruit of having thousands of engaged home educators, as well as over 2200 people (with a majority being home educators) standing up at the Alberta Legislature for parental rights in education, resulted in parental authority being enshrined in Alberta’s new Education Act. Patty never wants to forget this story of God’s great love for his people, and how He uses those He chooses, those willing to follow His lead, for His greater plan. And all to make life better for us. What a great God we have!

Patty would be honored to continue serving home educators as an AHEA board member.

paulvandenboschPaul van den Bosch

Paul van den Bosch and his wife Mary have seven children and have been home educating for almost 20 years. Three of their children are adults and Paul and Mary are home educating the remaining four, aged 16 to nine. Paul and his wife are traditional home educators. Their home education program is parentdirected and parent-delivered. Paul strongly believes in parents as the primary educators of their children and believes AHEA is the voice that speaks for the traditional home educator. He is a home school facilitator and loves speaking with anyone interested in home schooling.

lowres chrisrogers2Chris Rogers

Chris Rogers enjoys home educating with his wife, Juanita, and their five wonderful children. Chris and Juanita have been attending AHEA conventions since their oldest child was a toddler. Chris has volunteered during the past ten conventions, coordinated Guest Services for many years, and has been a board member for the past 5 years.

Chris would like to continue to serve with AHEA to ensure that home educators keep the freedoms they have gained and to see AHEA stay strong for the ideals in which it was started. Chris feels that AHEA is a much needed ministry that is here to help, equip and reinvigorate parents in training their children in the way they should go. While Chris knows he is far from being a perfect father, he has a vision for AHEA to help equip fathers as the spiritual leaders of their home and would like to see AHEA do more to encourage and facilitate this outside of AHEA’s convention!

Ted Tederoff

Ted Tederoff is using his computer engineering background to work as a consultant. He’s worked as a network administrator, developer, technical writer and in customer support. He has an interest in government policy with his past involvement for six years on the board of the federal Conservative Party in his Edmonton-Leduc riding. Ted also spent several years involved with Toastmasters and served in various executive club positions. His most important job however, is being husband to Shannon and father to their six children. Ted is in his sixth year as president of AHEA and feels so blessed to be serving Alberta home educating families. He has a passion for implementing at home the great ideas he comes across from past and current home educators, whether these folks are distant leaders or local friends. Ted realizes that home educators have their struggles yet he is so impressed with the fruit of home education - the friendly, talented and full-of-life young adults.
